There are times that an artist must accept the fact that a painting is not ready for prime time viewing! "Roses Are Red and Violet,Too" is a Still life painting that I began almost a year ago but was never completely satisfied with. The painting has remained in the busiest area of my studio until one day last week I was prompted to submit this painting for a local exhibit. After much thought, I began to rework the painting! "Roses Are Red and Violet, Too", an acrylic floral painting, was juried into the exhibit so I spent my time well!

Paris Landscape Painting,Watercolor Paris Landscape"Jardin des Tuileries" by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter
My husband and I have been fortunate to be able to visit the city Paris the last two years! One of our favorite activities is to spend a couple of hours in "Jardin des Tuileries"! There is always a lot of activity, families with their dogs, artists, students, and of course the tourists! Painting the watercolor landscape, "Jardin des Tuleries", gave me a chance to revisit this beautiful garden here in my studio!

Oil Landscape, Barn Painting"Going Home" by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter
Having been born in the North Carolina mountains , I get a familiar feeling when I see a barn in the distance. Barns aren't often seen in the city landscape these days, however if you are in the countryside of any state you see the finest displays of this type of structure. As kids growing up in the mountains, the perfect vehicle to travel this type of road surface is a truck. Some of the most fun I ever had were the summer hayrides in the back of a pickup truck! " Going Home", a landscape in oil, is reminiscent of my country childhood experiences!

Still Life Watercolor Floral Painting, Calla Lilly,"Counterbalance" by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter
When I created the still life of calla lilies in my art studio, I was pleased with the arrangement of the lilies but knew I had to have some feature in the acrylic painting to counterbalance the natural orientation of flowers whose stem is unable to hold them upright! The yellow satin ribbon adds to the playfulness of the arrangement!

Original Acrylic Abstract Expressionism Painting "Tide Pools" by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter
The color turquoise symbolizes calmness and new growth. For this reason, nurses often choose the color aquamarine, a form of the color turquoise, for their smocks. Turquoise comes from the French for "Turk". This painting uses the color, turquoise, as unifying agent.
