I wait with anticipation the blooming of hydrangeas in my garden late May. I place them in vases or baskets throughout the house! It is a joy to paint them in varied styles during their blooming season! Wouldn't you like to enjoy one of my hydrangea paintings all year long!!
"Rebirth of Spring" is a landscape watercolor painting created from several of my photographs. I love the misty feeling of the background with the crispness of application of the tree trunk in the foreground. I hope the painting evokes a memory and/ or pleasant thoughts!
Who wouldn't love a" A Place With A View"! We all long for a large tract of land bordered by towering trees with colorful folliage in the autumn in the year. My small architectural oil painting depicts just such a place! I was privileged to have this as my view for three days while painting the countryside in the mountains of north Georgia!
I had convinced a good artist friend to go to the Chattahoochee Riverbank to paint late one evening last week! It was a mild summer evening, so here we go with easel, backpack, and tripod in hand! We had a wonderful time painting beside the water looking out at these reflections and imagining how we were ever going to describe the many beautiful colors in the water! My interpretation of the events is this small landscape oil painting named appropriately " Riverbank Reflections" .
The most visited museums of the world, Musee Du Louve houses a huge collection of sculpture and paintings! A central landmark of Paris,
France, it is located at the Right Bank of the Seine. It is from the left bank of the River Seine where I most enjoyed the view of Musee Du Louve! Photographs of my trips to Paris inspired the oil landscape painting simply titled "Musee Du Louve". When planning your trip to Paris allow several ours for your visit there!
Gay Fish Company is a featured location in the movie classic, "Forest Gump". If you ever visit Fripp Island, South Carolina, you will pass Gay Fish Company on the way to the guards station on Fripp. In addition to providing me with some of my favorite subject matter for paintings, the seafood venue has delicious, fresh caught fish, shrimp, etc! " Gay Fish Company II" is a value study for a small oil painting.

Tuscan Skies are much like our Georgia skies but with a view like no other! Villa Fontelunga is a dream of a place to spend afternoons at the end of a day trip to Florence, Italy! I choose this particular view of the Tuscan landscape overlooking the cabana where we spent several evenings by the crackling fire, enjoying comraderie and delicious Italian wines.
Outside my studio windows the late afternoon light comes from the west. Atlanta happened to have a rare occurrence of a snowfall which was wooing me into the studio! It was very therapeutic sitting at my drafting table describing with watercolor this beautiful dance of light over the snow and tree trunks.
A good friend gave us a tray of French chocolates which inspired this still life painting of the beautifully packaged chocolates and coffee! On the property of the Palace at Versaille in France there were cottages built for Marie Antoinette to enjoy the country life. The beauty of the low country is unique in the quality of light, the charming little seaside towns, and the beautiful boats which move about on the water. "Sailing to Beaufort" is a seascape, oil painting on canvas, depicting the journey by boat to Beaufort, S.C., on the intercoastal waterway which flows to the Atlantic Ocean! I am so ready to visit this area again!
