FRESH OFF THE EASEL....

While I love the city life, when choosing subject matter for my paintings, I return to my roots! I absolutely love to paint cows! Our family had a milk cow when I was a small child. I enjoyed the smooth cold drink at every meal. I, however, never learned to love buttermilk! "Daisy" is a domestic animal oil painting of a calf who was born on a farm in South Carolina. I fell in love with her at first site! I look forward to possibly painting her again!

"Can't Wait To Be There" is a landscape oil painting of a farm in Western North Carolina. I had the privilege of painting there with a group of plein air artists in June, 2015. I found just the right spot to view the subject and had my easel set up early morning. The painting was completed in my studio with the aid of photographs taken on site.

Having a background in interior design, the way the light falls on objects in a space always draws my attention. While on a plein air painting outing, I was searching for a subject that had depth and contrast. This bank of color, the lily pads floating on the water,  and the reflections did "It" for me! Lindenberg Lake II, an oil landscape painting of a North Carolina lake was begun en plein air and completed in my studio. The painting is gallery wrapped so it doesn't require framing!

English Daisies are often seen in the southern garden. As a cut flower they give pleasure to the home for several days. I always have said they when I become wealthy, I will have fresh flowers in my home at all times! While I have not accumulated monetary wealth, I have wealth in all areas of my life that are really satisfying.
