Early in January, the Atlanta area weather stations had forecasted ice and 2" of snow. I fell  asleep anticipating the beautiful white landscape! Upon arising early the next morning, I was greeted with a small amount of snow but the front porch entrance and glowing streetlight down the street blew me away! 

"Southern Snowfall" is an oil landscape painting describing what I saw on a serene, cold morning in  Georgia.

Notre Dame is one of the most recognized structures in Europe. It took 10 years to complete this magnificent cathedral! Inside Notre Dame Cathedral is a replica of the project which I enjoyed seeing. "Beautiful Basilica", an oil landscape painting is inspired by my impression of the night sky over Notre Dame while on a cruise down the River Seine.

I had convinced a good artist friend to go to the Chattahoochee Riverbank to paint late one evening last week! It was a mild summer evening, so here we go with easel, backpack, and tripod in hand! We had a wonderful time painting beside the water looking out at these reflections and imagining how we were ever going to describe the many beautiful colors in the water! My interpretation of the events is this small landscape oil painting named appropriately " Riverbank Reflections" .

North Carolina Landscape Oil Painting "Midday In Ironduff" by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

Photographing the scenery along country roads is always scheduled in my itinerary when traveling to my home state of North Carolina! There are rustic and romantic vistas, charming homesites , and farm animals in the fields! Even the two lane roads have a charming way of winding through the countryside! As  I travel around Atlanta, I pretty much see 7 or more lanes of traffic as I go about my day! "Midday In Ironduff" , an oil landscape painting describes my response to this countryside residence situated on a huge tract of farmland. Can you just see the owners of the property climbing the hill for a home grown supper!

Isle of Hope is one of the most beautiful areas of Savannah , Ga.

On a recent visit, I stepped onto a dock taking in the view of boats and their reflections on the water.

"A View of Hope" is a boat/water landscape painting seen through my eyes at that moment.

I used a brush and palette knife to create texture in this painting.

FRESH OFF THE EASEL...

Cherished X, a watercolor wildlife painting of a desserted birds nest which was built in my front door wreath a couple of months ago. It is a joy to be able to see a nest being built, see the tiny eggs ( requires a little effort from behind the glass indoors), see the tiny beaks in the air waiting to be fed, and then the beautiful little creatures fly away! Unfortunately, I haven't yet witnessed the exit from the nest. I just have to trust they are enjoying their flight and being well fed!
