Maritime Painting With Fishing Boat Dock Water "Gay Fish Company II" by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

I have visited The Gay Fish Company to purchase their delicious fresh catch on several occasions. I have also photographed the shrimp boats more than once for reference for paintings of this quaint seaside dock. Not to mention that scenes from the famous movie, " Forest Gump" were filmed there at the end of the boat dock.
The silvery sky and curving dock were an inspiration for the painting!

Oil Landscape, Barn Painting "Going Home" by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

Having been born in the North Carolina mountains , I get a familiar feeling when I see a barn in the distance. Barns aren't often seen in the city landscape these days, however if you are in the countryside of any state you see the finest displays of this type of structure. As kids growing up in the mountains, the perfect vehicle to travel this type of road surface is a truck. Some of the most fun I ever had were the summer hayrides in the back of a pickup truck! " Going Home", a landscape in oil, is reminiscent of my country childhood experiences!

The week long workshop was located on St. Simon's Island, Georgia.

Among the instructors were Bill Farnsworth, Mark Horton, and Richard Oversmith. The week long event ended with a fabulous opening and exhibit at Anderson Fine Art Gallery on St. Simon's Island, Georgia.

Plein Air Painting, Cottage Georgia House Georgia Neighborhood "Spring In Session" by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

The Marietta /Cobb Museum of Art sponsored the Third Annual Plein Air Paint Out

As a participant, I arrived at my chosen plein air location on Saturday morning!

The gray skies were threatening rain in the afternoon so I concentrated on finishing my oil painting before the rains came!

At 2 pm, I began to wrap things up while mixing my puddles of paint with water bouncing around in my pochade box! As we have all heard before, oil and water do not mix!

I had saved the large tree in the front for the last. I managed to get a suggestion of new spring growth in a couple of areas of the tree!

I began to disassemble my tripod and pochade box which was pretty full of water as I was determined to stay there in the rain to complete the painting!

Ahh, the joys of plein air painting!!!

Here is the finished 8 x 10 oil of 26 Sessions Street!

"Riverbank Reflections" Original Oil Painting of the Chattahoochee Riverbank by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

I had convinced a good artist friend to go to the Chattahoochee Riverbank to paint late one evening last week! It was a mild summer evening, so here we go with easel, backpack, and tripod in hand! We had a wonderful time painting beside the water looking out at these reflections and imagining how we were ever going to describe the many beautiful colors in the water! My interpretation of the events is this small landscape oil painting named appropriately " Riverbank Reflections" .
