"Terracotta" Original Watercolor Landscape Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

"Terracotta" is homage to one of the most favored containers for a beautiful garden! Having just returned from a fabulous watercolor instructors' workshop, I was anxious to paint a new watercolor painting using all my new found insight into this medium. There is aways so much more that we artists can learn from each other!

"Flag of Italy" Original Watercolor Landscape Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

While riding on the streets of Rome, Italy, I spotted the blazing color of the tree , and the colorful flag flying outside what may have been a bedroom window. This is the way many Roman city residents have their being. Something makes me think that inside these walls there is celebration, laughter, and good food to be enjoyed! What story do you hear being told in this watercolor painting?

"Morning Shadows" Original Watercolor Landscape Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

As an artist, I am always looking for contrast; shadows give me what I am looking for! In addition to loving this old structure, the play of light is a painters dream! The inspiration for "Morning Shadows" came from childhood experiences such as playing in the midst of a huge field of grass, lying on the ground making images out of clouds, and trees awash with color in the autumn of the year.

"Tuscan Skies" Original Watercolor Landscape Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

Tuscan Skies are much like our Georgia skies but with a view like no other! Villa Fontelunga is a dream of a place to spend afternoons at the end of a day trip to Florence, Italy! I choose this particular view of the Tuscan landscape overlooking the cabana where we spent several evenings by the crackling fire, enjoying comraderie and delicious Italian wines.

"Best Friends" Original Watercolor Truck Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

These two old trucks stay parked alongside each other on the gravel path having taken care of their owners needs over the years. The nostalgia of the scene is what drew me in and made me want to capture it all in a watercolor painting. Maybe you have an old truck like these "Best Friends" that needs immortalizing!

"Sidewalk Symphony" Original Watercolor Landscape Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

                                                 22"x15" Watercolor on Canvas/Available

Many years ago on my first visit to Paris, France my husband and I enjoyed the instrumental sounds of this small symphony while shopping at an upscale area of the city. The treasure that came from this shopping excursion was this experience. I have painted in the medium of watercolor, my version of the experience for your enjoyment. As in many of my paintings, "Sidewalk Symphony" is about pattern of light and the gestures of the musicians.

Every village in Italy has a market for purchasing fresh breads, wines, cheeses, and meats for the day's meal. If I were to live there, I would be like a kid in a candy store! "Destination Italy", a watercolor figure in landscape painting, features an Italian shopper coming home from such an excursion to the market!

"The Gathering" Original Watercolor Landscape Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

Autumn of the year is harvesting time! My family and I always love to venture outdoors to enjoy the colorful bounty seen this time of year! Seeing the old porch scene, pumpkins, and rough hewn wood, reminds me of my childhood growing up in the mountains of North Carolina! My inspiration for "The Gathering" came from fond memories and from several tubes of watercolor paint!

"Art and Music" Original Watercolor Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

One can almost hear music wafting through the art gallery as gallery patrons are drawn to contemplate the painter's intention. In the watercolor painting, Art and Music, two of the patrons seem to have a serious appreciation for the experience while another is somewhat detached. Don't judge too soon! The handsome gentleman could be looking for the artist's website on his IPhone. If you've never attended an opening reception at an art gallery, don't miss the opportunity! In most cities gallery owners often introduce new artists with wine and cheese gatherings!

"Charm and Grace" Original Female Portrait Oil Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

Charm and Grace are desirable qualities in the female. While some men prefer a gutsy, modern type woman, it is my feeling when a woman with gentle qualities enters a room, men take notice. Mind you these coveted qualities are present in men as well! My oil painting is a depiction of what charm and grace might look like!

"Days Gone By" Original Red Truck Watercolor Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

Who doesn't love the color "RED"! While roaming the grounds at a fall festival I spotted this old truck.
I couldn't wait to paint it, in fact I painted it three times, this painting being a watercolor.
It would have made my Mother proud, because as a lover of the color Red, she dressed me in red for 18 years of my life!

I once heard that in order to convey confidence in life "you gotta have attitude".
I believe the young woman in this oil painting is someone I would like to spend more time with!
Don't you love the color green I used for the chair! Even the chair has attitude!

"White Linen" Original Figurative Oil Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

Who can resist the allure of white linen fabric! Linen has been traditionally used to make bedding, bath, and lightweight undergarments. The warm natural light falls across the front of her body onto the bed linens and pillows. When viewing this oil painting try to imagine what the woman must be thinking as she rests on the beautiful iron bed.

"Edith Ann" Original Figurative Oil Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

Edith Ann is a beautiful young brunette whose wedding day was captured with a huge celebration and a fine oil painting as well! If beauty is all one needs for inspiration, I was given an easy task for this oil portrait! The drape of the fabric from which the wedding gown was made and the translucence of the white tulle veil were an opportunity to translate to the viewer the many colors of white!

"Muscadines" Original Watercolor Landscape Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

A famous southern garden expert, Ryan Gainey, invited 3 of my plein air painter friends to paint in his private garden! When I heard about the invitation, I jumped for the opportunity, having only a few hours to prepare for the excursion. Chilly evenings had turned the grapevine foliage this golden hue! From the back of the garden one could see the back porch and vine covered Mr. Gainey's home. I chose this vantage point for my oil painting, Muscadines! Some days are just little bits of heaven; this was one of them.

"Life Is A Dance" Original Acrylic Abstract Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

When I hear the word, dance, a wonderful poem about dancing with God comes to mind. Even on cloudy days, light dances from one area to another in the landscape; When painting " en plein air" the artist has to draw on memory to record what drew him to the subject before the light danced away!

"Eternal Optimist" Original Acrylic Abstract Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

The color orange symbolizes optimism which I have often been accused of. As one who paints abstractly, my vision for Eternal Optimist was to create movement with interlocking shapes and beautiful color choices.

"Catching The Light" Original Still Life Floral Oil Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

As I painted this floral oil painting in my studio, the light coming from the window stayed consistent until the end. Often, a light source will change dramatically, challenging the artist in that he must remember the initial inspiration for the painting. For me, so often it is the way light falls across the subject matter! Such is the joy and challenge of painting from life. Hydrangea is a southern flowering bush that brings me great joy in my garden from mid spring through late June!

"Ancient Aqueduct" Original Watercolor Landscape Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

Walking through the modern city of Rome,Italy, one will come across these monumental arched structures that often cross streets and avenues. Sometimes these arches are doubled and often ornately decorated. The aqueducts were and are a means of carrying water to and from the city to its residents and commercial sites. I am reminded that Americans often choose to tear down to build up, losing historic architectural treasures. For most preservation of history is the appeal of European travel! Painting in watercolor my interpretation of this marvelous feat of engineering, Ancient Aqueduct is my way of preserving history, my history, and your history as well!

"When Lightning Strikes" Original Abstract Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

One of my goals as an abstract painter, is to create a pleasing composition no matter how you rotate the canvas. "My Turn" Original Oil Bird and Cage Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

Birds circle the air in the spring and summer waiting to sample the menu at the birdfeeder in this painting. I love to watch this activity as I work at my kitchen window! I manage to slowly raise the window being careful not to startle the birds by snapping photographs of them before they fly away! In this small oil painting on canvas board, the bird at the top of the painting is waiting patiently for his turn to feed!

"Passages" Original Acrylic Abstract Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

Passages describes movement through time and space! To some, this painting could be describing a city landscape at night or at dawn. The viewer of an abstract painting makes up his own story about the artwork. In the act of painting, a canvas takes on a life of it's own. There is a zone where the artist becomes unaware of her surroundings and paints free of rules and restrictions!

"Counterbalance" Original Still Life Floral Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

When I created the still life of calla lilies in my art studio, I was pleased with the arrangement of the lilies but knew I had to have some feature in the acrylic painting to counterbalance the natural orientation of flowers whose stem is unable to hold them upright! The yellow satin ribbon adds to the playfulness of the arrangement!

"The Evolved Soul" Original Acrylic Abstract Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

The color turquoise symbolizes calmness and new growth. For this reason, nurses often choose the color aquamarine, a form of the color turquoise, for their smocks. Turquoise comes from the French for "Turk". My painting, The Evolved Soul uses the color, turquoise, as unifying agent.

"Guilding The Lily II" Original Watercolor Floral Landscape Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

Water lilies are aquatic plants which are rooted in soil but have leaves and flowers that float on the water's surface. Don't you think my painting of water lilies rivals those of Claude Monet! The loose technique while applying the paint used in this watercolor painting is what gives it an abstract feeling. Guilding the Lily II and Guilding the Lily I make excellent companions when hung side by side or one over the other!
