English Daisies are often seen in the southern garden. As a cut flower they give pleasure to the home for several days. I always have said they when I become wealthy, I will have fresh flowers in my home at all times! While I have not accumulated monetary wealth, I have wealth in all areas of my life that are really satisfying. The still life acrylic painting of daisies simply titled "English Daisy" reminds us of the need to be grateful in our daily lives.
A friend of mine has taken such care with his cherished vintage truck! "Washed and Waxed" is an original landscape oil painting on a canvas panel. While visiting my friend's property, I photographed one of these prized trucks and fell in love with the bright red, highly polished beauty. I always wanted a bright red truck to ride around in so getting to paint one is the next best thing!
"Summer Serenity", a landscape oil painting on gallery wrapped canvas, is inspired by smaller paintings done "en plein air" in the north Georgia mountains. There are beautiful lakes in the north Georgia area, all within 3 hours drive from Atlanta, Ga. Outdoor camping was a summer and fall activity for me as a young girl living in the mountains of North Carolina. We encountered all sorts of critters, as my Dad called them, on these camping excursions. I believe those trips to the Blue Ridge Mountains allowed me to catalogue all those beautiful images of woods and lakes for my paintings!
Lillies remind us of new growth in nature and in our lives! "A Fresh Start"" are akin in that they are both organic, from the bounty of the earth. The peaceful colors in my oil still life painting on canvas give it a freshness that is beautiful in it's surroundings! Each of us welcomes a fresh start every morning so let's take a spirit of thankfulness into each new day.

Walking through the modern city of Rome,Italy, one will come across these monumental arched structures that often cross streets and avenues. Sometimes these arches are doubled and often ornately decorated. The aqueducts were and are a means of carrying water to and from the city to its residents and commercial sites. I am reminded that Americans often choose to tear down to build up, losing historic architectural treasures. For most preservation of history is the appeal of European travel! Painting in watercolor my interpretation of this marvelous feat of engineering, Ancient Aqueduct is my way of preserving history, my history, and your history as well!

What a cutie is this plump little bird with the most beautiful blue/slate gray/white feathers! "Sweet Tweet 5" , a small wildlife watercolor painting is painted from the photo I took from my kitchen window, my favorite viewing spot for my little flighty friends! Enjoy my small watercolor painting of this bird species most often spotted in northern woods. I suppose all the unseasonably rainy more temperate summer days this year brought him to the wooded area of my southern garden!

For many years one of the classic shoe styles for little boys has been the traditional lace up saddle oxfords! They are made to last and have stories to tell about their precious owners! This pencil study was done from a still life set up in my art studio. I love the water soluble graphite pencils to give me the light, medium, and dark values for the final painting! Here, I have laid the groundwork for the small oil painting on canvas which shall be titled, "Classic"! Be sure to check back to see the completed work!
"Sweet Tweet 4 " is a small watercolor wildlife painting of a beautiful black and white well dressed friend of mine! My little friend must have a well developed fashion sense! He comes and goes from the garden and seems to enjoy the company of the other birds at the feeder!

Mary Janes Study is a graphite sketch on paper executed before painting my contour drawing on the canvas. In these preliminary studies, I establish the values and composition of the painting. I enjoy using the water soluble graphite pencils because I can pick up my watercolor brushes and paint in the darks, medium, and light values right on the sketchpad! The finished painting will be uploaded in a couple of days so check back to view the results of the oil painting!

The painting is a completed work except for the final finish coat which seals the color and protects the painting. The oil architectural/landscape painting on canvas measures 12 x 12 and is painted on high quality,1.5" deep gallery wrap canvas. My signature will be added when the painting is dry to the touch.
I am posting the intiial stages of a new painting of a historic home in Augusta, Georgia. My intent is to help you understand the creative process. Before I toned the canvas I did a pencil sketch of the subject matter in my sketchbook. While drawing I decided on the composition for the painting and noted my light , medium, and dark values of the painting. Check back Saturday to see the stages of development in this painting!!
On a recent plein air painting excursion to Smith Gilbert Gardens in Kennesaw, Georgia, I chose the site of the entrance to their vegetable garden! The small barn structure was lit by the bright morning sun beckoning me to paint it!!. I stood there in the grass getting in as much information on the canvas before the sun moved overhead altering the areas in shadow and sunlight. Back in my studio, I completed the oil landscape painting done in an impressionistic style that tells you that it is a Deanna Jaugstetter painting ! I am happy with my landscape oil painting and hope you enjoy it , too!
