" Dream Cottage" is my version of an ideal spot to enjoy the beach! I can feel the sand between my toes as I get up from the wicker chair for a morning walk! Small spaces have always made me feel cozy and protected! I grew up in a smaller mountain ranch home in the mountains of North Carolina! If there were such a place like" Dream Cottage" , I would be quite content there! This seascape, acrylic painting on gallery wrapped canvas is yours to enjoy!

A good many of us will be headed to the beach this summer! Part of the attraction are the wonderfully varied beach front properties that are for rent. Hearing the sound of the ocean waves in the background is so appealing! "Beach Beauty" is an acrylic seascape painting that makes me want to get my toes in the sand! Wouldn't you want to spend time in this place!!!
Getting back out to paint en plein air has been a treat after a cold, rainy Georgia winter! "McFarlane Park" is an oil landscape painting of an old building on the property of McFarlane Park in Marietta, Ga. The lighting and shadows are beautiful there both morning and evening as they fall across the outbuildings there. What a joy it was to paint start this painting in such a beautiful place not too far from my home!
Autumn of the year is harvesting time! My family and I always love to venture outdoors to enjoy the colorful bounty seen this time of year! Seeing the old porch scene, pumpkins, and rough hewn wood, reminds me of my childhood growing up in the mountains of North Carolina! My inspiration for "The Gathering" came from fond memories and from several tubes of watercolor paint!
"Complementary" is a large acrylic abstract painting inspired by beautiful blue hues and soft hues of orange/red , and neutrals! An artist utilizes these complements to enhance each other! I love the verticals in this painting which add exciting movement to the tints and tones of the palette! Consider an abstract painting as a wonderful complement to realistic paintings in a similar color family!
One can almost hear music wafting through the art gallery as gallery patrons are drawn to contemplate the painter's intention. In the watercolor painting, Art and Music, two of the patrons seem to have a serious appreciation for the experience while another is somewhat detached. Don't judge too soon! The handsome gentleman could be looking for the artist's website on his IPhone. If you've never attended an opening reception at an art gallery, don't miss the opportunity! In most cities gallery owners often introduce new artists with wine and cheese gatherings!

The beauty of the low country is unique in the quality of light, the charming little seaside towns, and the beautiful boats which move about on the water. "Sailing to Beaufort" is a seascape, oil painting on canvas, depicting the journey by boat to Beaufort, S.C., on the intercoastal waterway which flows to the Atlantic Ocean! I am so ready to visit this area again!
Charm and Grace are desirable qualities in the female. While some men prefer a gutsy, modern type woman, it is my feeling when a woman with gentle qualities enters a room, men take notice. Mind you these coveted qualities are present in men as well! My oil painting is a depiction of what charm and grace might look like!
I once heard that in order to convey confidence in life "you gotta have attitude".
I believe the young woman in this oil painting is someone I would like to spend more time with!
Don't you love the color green I used for the chair! Even the chair has attitude!
Here are two contented cows and one who feels a little ignored! "Feeling Left Out" is a framed landscape oil painting on canvas of one of my most favorite animals, the cow! Having had a cow named Bessie as a child whose milk I drank at almost every meal was true country living! Milk and Cornbread was a staple at my dinner table in beautiful Western North Carolina! As my Dad used to say, "This is God's Country"! Although a city girl now with some city ways, the country does come out on occasion, especially in what I choose to paint for you! "Feeling Left Out" is beautifully framed in a light burled wood frame which compliments the colors and mood of the painting!
