"White Linen" Original Figurative Oil Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

Who can resist the allure of white linen fabric! Linen has been traditionally used to make bedding, bath, and lightweight undergarments. The warm natural light falls across the front of her body onto the bed linens and pillows. When viewing this oil painting try to imagine what the woman must be thinking as she rests on the beautiful iron bed.

"Edith Ann" Original Figurative Oil Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

Edith Ann is a beautiful young brunette whose wedding day was captured with a huge celebration and a fine oil painting as well! If beauty is all one needs for inspiration, I was given an easy task for this oil portrait! The drape of the fabric from which the wedding gown was made and the translucence of the white tulle veil were an opportunity to translate to the viewer the many colors of white!

"Muscadines" Original Watercolor Landscape Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

A famous southern garden expert, Ryan Gainey, invited 3 of my plein air painter friends to paint in his private garden! When I heard about the invitation, I jumped for the opportunity, having only a few hours to prepare for the excursion. Chilly evenings had turned the grapevine foliage this golden hue! From the back of the garden one could see the back porch and vine covered Mr. Gainey's home. I chose this vantage point for my oil painting, Muscadines! Some days are just little bits of heaven; this was one of them.

"Life Is A Dance" Original Acrylic Abstract Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

When I hear the word, dance, a wonderful poem about dancing with God comes to mind. Even on cloudy days, light dances from one area to another in the landscape; When painting " en plein air" the artist has to draw on memory to record what drew him to the subject before the light danced away!

"Eternal Optimist" Original Acrylic Abstract Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

The color orange symbolizes optimism which I have often been accused of. As one who paints abstractly, my vision for Eternal Optimist was to create movement with interlocking shapes and beautiful color choices.

"Catching The Light" Original Still Life Floral Oil Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

As I painted this floral oil painting in my studio, the light coming from the window stayed consistent until the end. Often, a light source will change dramatically, challenging the artist in that he must remember the initial inspiration for the painting. For me, so often it is the way light falls across the subject matter! Such is the joy and challenge of painting from life. Hydrangea is a southern flowering bush that brings me great joy in my garden from mid spring through late June!

"Ancient Aqueduct" Original Watercolor Landscape Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

Walking through the modern city of Rome,Italy, one will come across these monumental arched structures that often cross streets and avenues. Sometimes these arches are doubled and often ornately decorated. The aqueducts were and are a means of carrying water to and from the city to its residents and commercial sites. I am reminded that Americans often choose to tear down to build up, losing historic architectural treasures. For most preservation of history is the appeal of European travel! Painting in watercolor my interpretation of this marvelous feat of engineering, Ancient Aqueduct is my way of preserving history, my history, and your history as well!

"When Lightning Strikes" Original Abstract Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

One of my goals as an abstract painter, is to create a pleasing composition no matter how you rotate the canvas. A vertical can become a wonderful horizontal etc. The darks and lights in When Lightning Strikes remind me of bolts of lightning; at the same time the painting has a feeling of serenity!

"My Turn" Original Oil Bird and Cage Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

Birds circle the air in the spring and summer waiting to sample the menu at the birdfeeder in this painting. I love to watch this activity as I work at my kitchen window! I manage to slowly raise the window being careful not to startle the birds by snapping photographs of them before they fly away! In this small oil painting on canvas board, the bird at the top of the painting is waiting patiently for his turn to feed!

"Passages" Original Acrylic Abstract Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

Passages describes movement through time and space! To some, this painting could be describing a city landscape at night or at dawn. The viewer of an abstract painting makes up his own story about the artwork. In the act of painting, a canvas takes on a life of it's own. There is a zone where the artist becomes unaware of her surroundings and paints free of rules and restrictions!

"Counterbalance" Original Still Life Floral Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

When I created the still life of calla lilies in my art studio, I was pleased with the arrangement of the lilies but knew I had to have some feature in the acrylic painting to counterbalance the natural orientation of flowers whose stem is unable to hold them upright! The yellow satin ribbon adds to the playfulness of the arrangement!
