"Art and Music" Original Watercolor Painting Figure Painting, Art Gallery Painting,by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

One can almost hear music wafting through the art gallery as gallery patrons are drawn to contemplate the painter's intention. In the watercolor painting, Art and Music, two of the patrons seem to have a serious appreciation for the experience while another is somewhat detached. Don't judge too soon! The handsome gentleman could be looking for the artist's website on his IPhone. If you've never attended an opening reception at an art gallery, don't miss the opportunity! In most cities gallery owners often introduce new artists with wine and cheese gatherings!

"Charm and Grace" Original Female Portrait Oil Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

Charm and Grace are desirable qualities in the female. While some men prefer a gutsy, modern type woman, it is my feeling when a woman with gentle qualities enters a room, men take notice. Mind you these coveted qualities are present in men as well! My oil painting is a depiction of what charm and grace might look like!

"Polished to Perfection" Original Red Truck Watercolor Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

Who doesn't love the color "RED"! While roaming the grounds at a fall festival I spotted this old truck.

I couldn't wait to paint it, in fact I painted it three times, this painting being a watercolor.

It would have made my Mother proud, because as a lover of the color Red, she dressed me in red for 18 years of my life!

"You Gotta Have Attitude" Original Oil Female Figurative Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

I believe the young woman in this oil painting is someone I would like to spend more time with!
Don't you love the color green I used for the chair! Even the chair has attitude!

"Feeling Left Out" Original Georgia Landscape Painting, Cow,Bovine Art by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

Here are two contented cows and one who feels a little ignored! "Feeling Left Out" is a framed landscape oil painting on canvas of one of my most favorite animals, the cow! Having had a cow named Bessie as a child whose milk I drank at almost every meal was true country living! Milk and Cornbread was a staple at my dinner table in beautiful Western North Carolina! As my Dad used to say, "This is God's Country"! Although a city girl now with some city ways, the country does come out on occasion, especially in what I choose to paint for you! "Feeling Left Out" is beautifully framed in a light burled wood frame which compliments the colors and mood of the painting!

"Life is a Dance" Original Acrylic Contemporary Abstract Expressionism Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

When I hear the word, dance, a wonderful poem about dancing with God comes to mind. Even on cloudy days, light dances from one area to another in the landscape; When painting " en plein air" the artist has to draw on memory to record what drew him to the subject before the light danced away!

"Eternal Optimist" Original Acrylic Abstract Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

The color orange symbolizes optimism which I have often been accused of. As one who paints  abstractly, my vision for Eternal Optimist was to create movement with interlocking shapes and  beautiful color choices.

"Catching The Light" Original Still Life Floral Oil Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

As I painted this floral oil painting in my studio, the light coming from the window stayed consistent until the end. Often, a light source will change dramatically, challenging the artist in that he must remember the initial inspiration for the painting. For me, so often it is the way light falls across the subject matter! Such is the joy and challenge of painting from life. Hydrangea is a southern flowering bush that brings me great joy in my garden from mid spring through late June!

"Juliette" Original Georgia Landscape Painting With Neighborhood, House by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

My first plein air painting outing with Oil Painters of America was a treat! Fifty or so members of this highly recognized group gathered to paint on location of Whistlestop Cafe in Juliette, Georgia. This famous cafe is where most of the scenes from the widely viewed movie,"Fried Green Tomatoes" was filmed. I still remember the scene in the field with Izzy and the bees! " Juliette" is an architectural/landscape painting of what was once the courthouse! What intrigued me were the shadows that fell across the buildings in the early morning sun!

"Summer Serenity" Original Georgia Landscape Oil Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

"Summer Serenity", a landscape oil painting on gallery wrapped canvas, is inspired by smaller paintings done "en plein air" in the north Georgia mountains. There are beautiful lakes in the north Georgia area, all within 3 hours drive from Atlanta, Ga. Outdoor camping was a summer and fall activity for me as a young girl living in the mountains of North Carolina. We encountered all sorts of critters, as my Dad called them, on these camping excursions. I believe those trips to the Blue Ridge Mountains allowed me to catalogue all those beautiful images of woods and lakes for my paintings!

"Ancient Aqueduct" Original Watercolor Landscape Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

Walking through the modern city of Rome,Italy, one will come across these monumental arched structures that often cross streets and avenues. Sometimes these arches are doubled and often ornately decorated. The aqueducts were and are a means of carrying water to and from the city to its residents and commercial sites. I am reminded that Americans often choose to tear down to build up, losing historic architectural treasures. For most preservation of history is the appeal of European travel! Painting in watercolor my interpretation of this marvelous feat of engineering, Ancient Aqueduct is my way of preserving history, my history, and your history as well!

I am posting the intiial stages of a new painting of a historic home in Augusta, Georgia. My intent is to help you understand the creative process. "Joy in The Morning" Original Georgia Landscape With Barn Oil Painting by Georgia Artist Deanna Jaugstetter

On a recent plein air painting excursion to Smith Gilbert Gardens in Kennesaw, Georgia, I chose the site of the entrance to their vegetable garden! The small barn structure was lit by the bright morning sun beckoning me to paint it!!. I stood there in the grass getting in as much information on the canvas before the sun moved overhead altering the areas in shadow and sunlight. Back in my studio, I completed the oil landscape painting done in an impressionistic style that tells you that it is a Deanna Jaugstetter painting ! I am happy with my landscape oil painting and hope you enjoy it , too!
